Worship Music
Each Sunday we begin our worship with praise songs. Some are familiar standards, but many are new compositions.
This song was composed by our pastor, Gene Wilder. Here's the story behind the song.
One year, during Vacation Bible School, Dr. Wilder was talking to a ten year old boy who came from a family of undocumented Hispanics. His name was Johnny.
Johnny asked, "Why is it that white people like to eat in Mexican restuarants but they hate Mexicans?"
Dr. Wilder assured Johnny that all white people did not hate Mexicans and that the people who go to Rutledge Baptist Church love all people, especially Mexicans.
That night, when Dr. Wilder went home, he wrote the words and music to this song.
This song was composed by our pastor, Gene Wilder. The song was used during the Season of Lent to help us reflect on the forgiveness brought by Christ's death on the cross. The song also reminds us that Christ expects us to forgive others in the same way He forgives us.
